What to do when a relative dies at home
Life has left your dear one’s body and silence is all around you. It is a unique moment filled with peace. It is not necessary to begin doing something right away. Let your feelings come and do not be afraid to express them. Spend time doing what you consider to be appropriate – light some candles, open the window, let quiet music play, read from a book, sit and drink tea, remember, be thankful for the opportunity to know the person. Do not be afraid to be thankful for your dear one’s freedom, to be grateful that they are rid of their suffering.
When life is nearing its end
A death at home is not something that happens very often and so it may happen that we do not know what to do about even the most basic of things. The following text should help deal with the situation calmly and without chaos and uncertainty.
How do you determine that the person has died?
- they are not breathing
- the pulse is not perceptible even in the neck arteries
- there is no reaction even to strong impulses
- when you open the eye the pupil is dilated and does not react to light; sometimes the eyes remain open and cannot be closed
